” One  who  is respected  by the learned  !  do  i move around  in the world  feigning  devotion  in order  to be popular  as an  ardent devotee  or do   i associate  myself  with the  immature  and engage  in evil ways? whether  suffer or enjoy whatever  life metes out ,  do  i complain ? your divine  feet alone  are my  refuge  whether  you  drown  me in milk  or water without thought  of  whoever  is around  or not .”

That  Tyagaraja was  very  much  a  man  of the world  too is  borne  out  from the then  prevalent  fund  of  proverbs  he quotes  in support  of his offhand observations .Pala  muncina  is one such  evocative statement  of  total surrender .
